Top quality restoration and exceptional customer service. Julian knows his furniture and has a collection of high quality pieces. He was very flexible when it came to delivery. I would recommend Julian Gonnerman if you are looking for something a bit special from that mid century era.
We were delighted with the mid century sofa purchased from Julian. He was very helpful and responded to questions very swiftly and arranged delivery for us. We felt very lucky to discover the site after a google search for sofa frames, and bravely purchased without visiting the shop…. we were not disappointed . Julian also provided lots of helpful info on upholstery for the sofa.
I have bought several items (chairs, sofa, table stack) from Gonnermann. The pieces are of the highest quality and the upholstery which Julian advises and arranges only enhance them. If only I had the space and money to accommodate more! Julian is so knowledgeable and delightful to deal with and he goes the extra mile (literally) to arrange personal delivery both at home and my office. I have had countless compliments about the pieces.
We bought a beautifully restored chair and we couldn’t be happier with it. It’s practical, comfortable, and stunning which is rare for a piece of furniture. Julian provided an excellent level of service from an initial browse right through to delivery. If we had a bigger flat, we’d be buying everything from Gonnermann!
Such good taste. They really know their stuff. The place has a steady through-put of elegant furniture and other interesting pieces at good prices. My wife and I visit regularly and own several things we now treasure.
We recently purchased two beautiful rosewood bookcases from Julian. It was our first experience buying furniture overseas and we were nervous. However, it worked out so well, Julian fixed up any damage before they left his shop and they arrived in perfect condition. We are very happy with them and the whole experience was positive! Julian was really helpful and great at communicating with us. Highly recommend this shop!
We are a local architectural practice and I came across Gonnermann quite recently after we moved office. We were looking to source the ‘right furniture’ for the look that we wanted to create in our lounge area. The quality and the design of furniture is very important to us and we looked at a lot of antique furniture shops. Julian Gonnermann was a breath of fresh air, he has the right mix of being very knowledgeable and very helpful, without leaving you feeling rushed.
We bought beautiful mid century rosewood and leather chairs from Gonnermann and are absolutely delighted with them. As they were quite old, the cushions need to be refilled as they didn’t meet current fire regulations, and Julian organised this for us, the full process was so simple and quick, and if possible, the chairs looked even better after being refilled.
I would not hesitate to either recommend Gonnermann and to buy from them again.

.. your shop was an oasis- we couldn’t believe how lovely your furniture was. We’d spent ages looking for quality/stylish retro furniture and your shop was jaw-dropping. I liked the fact that all the wood had a lovely rich patina and the furniture was restored rather than knocked about. You also re-cover chairs which was great for us. We hate buying new furniture, it’s so boring. It’s nice to think that old furniture is re-used. … The chairs we’ve bought are really comfortable too!

One rainy afternoon we took shelter in Gonnermann and we discovered a gem. Julian is an expert in what he does and an absolute pleasure to deal with. His knowledge of furniture designers and history is fabulous. The personalised service he provides is very special, we spent some time with him learning about and choosing a beautiful table and chairs that are perfect for our home. Julian and his business truly exceeded expectations.
We can’t wait to go back to choose our next piece…I think we’re going to need a bigger house.

I’ve bought from Gonnerman’s for the last eight years. Going to the shop and talking with Julian is both a delight and an education as he really knows his stuff. He’s also incredibly helpful about deliveries and because he has an excellent sense of what works and doesn’t work in your home he never tries to sell you something that isn’t right.
