An exceptional and very large chandelier by J T Kalmar, Austria circa 1970. The light is composed of three concentric rings with a total of 21 separate pieces of clear Murano ice glass that attach to the chrome frame. There are a total of 18 bulbs of the small bayonet type. This is an original piece purchased in London in 1970 and some of the chrome and the top of the bulb fittings show a small amount of tarnishing, when the frame is viewed from above. None of this is visible when the light is assembled and in use. The chandelier has been re-wired and earthed and fitted with a new metal eye from which it can be hung securely. The metal rose is original and can be held in position flush to the ceiling by a small grub retaining screw.
