A 1950’s Italian floor lamp Model 2003 designed by Max Ingrand and produced by Fontana Arte, Milan. Circular brass wrapped glass base with spun brass column which flares seamlessly into the conical opaline white glass shade. The lamp has been completely re-wired but retains the original brass floor switch.
Max Ingrand (France 1908-1969) was Artistic Director of Milan design company Fontana Arte from 1954 to 1967 and occupies a place as one of the leading European designers of the 20th Century. During the early part of his career Max Ingrand worked largely in the design and execution of stained glass including such projects as the replacement of 47 stained glass windows at Notre Dame Cathedral after the Second World War.
