An Antique Chinese cabinet on stand circa 1900. The cabinet features a black ground with painted decoration to the front and sides featuring flowers arranged in a basket weave vase. The painting is of a very high standard and in very good condition. The subject matter is for Chinese export work in its restraint, naturalistic subject and use of colour. The doors are hung on decorative engraved brass hinges and are centred with an engraved brass locking plate. The original lock and working key are present. Inside the cabinet is finished in a deep red with gilt painted foliage on the inside of the doors. There are six adjustable shelves, again finished in red, with gilt edging.
The stand is 18th Century in style and consists of cabriole legs with a pad foot hand carved with scrolling acanthus leaves and other motifs all highlighted with gilding against a black ground.
